Lurid Lamentations: A Gothic Poetry Book Exploring Love, Loss, and Redemption

WHAT IS THIS BOOK?
A descent into sacred darkness.
Lurid Lamentations is a gothic poetry collection rooted in dark romance, Christian symbolism, and spiritual reflection—where love bleeds, faith trembles, and redemption waits beyond the veil.
These poems wander through ancient cathedrals and crumbling castles, across mist-drenched graveyards and moonlit moors. They wrestle with grief and longing, sin and salvation, despair and divine grace.
It is not simply poetry.
It is an encounter with the soul in shadow.
Love
Loss
Redemption

Eclipsed Heart
Her eyes, twin pools of endless night,
Reflect a world devoid of light.
Yet in their depths, a spark remains,
A flicker born of loves lost pains.
Twilight's Voyage
Sailing through life's dark, endless sea,
Where shadows whisper and spirits flee.
Amidst the gloom, a distant shore,
Haunted by love, forevermore.
Sinister's Waltz in the Moon's Eclipse
Moments end, life unwinds,
Silent cry, muted mind.
Blade strikes, darkness gleams,
Crimson pools in moonbeams.

About the Author

Hunter Godbolt studies the body, how it breaks, how it heals, how it performs under pressure. As a graduate student in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology, his work is rooted in discipline, recovery, and human resilience.
But the mind requires training too.
Through poetry, Hunter builds a place of refuge. A quiet architecture where darkness is not feared, but examined. His writing reflects a simple conviction: even in shadow, there is life. Even in struggle, there is strength.
Science sharpens him.
Poetry steadies him.
And in both, he searches for restoration.

A descent into grief, shadow, and sacred lament.
